Skating Polly sind die beiden Stiefschwestern Kelli Mayo und Peyton Bighorse. Seit Januar 2017 wird das Duo von Kellis Bruder bzw. Peytons Stiefbruder Kurtis Mayo an den Drums unterstützt. Gegründet haben sich Skating Polly bereits 2009 in Oklahoma City (Oklahoma), da waren Kelli und Peyton grade einmal 9 bzw. 14 Jahre alt. Sie selbst bezeichnen ihren Stil als Ugly Pop, dahinter verbirgt sich eine interessante Mischung aus Riot Grrrl, Punk, Alternative Rock und Indie-Pop.
