Lyrics:
You think you can kill me
Go ahead and try
Burn me to ashes
Throw me to the masses
Fight me till the day I die
But I’ll rise like a phoenix
And fly away
No, you can’t kill me
Oh, you can’t break me
Go on and hate me
But I’ll never hate myself ‚cause this is who I am
If we’re gonna start a war, this won’t be the end
So let them
Burn us
Together we will
Rise up
We’re going higher
Going up, going up
Don’t you know that
We are immortals
Fine, make me your villain
But I never was your enemy
Do you think I’m evil
‚Cause I feel regal?
Bow down to the queen
‚Cause
I’ll never hate myself, I know who I am
If we’re gonna start a war, we both know how it ends, oh no
Just let them
Burn us
Together we will
Rise up
We’re going higher
Going up, going up
Don’t you know that
We are immortals, go on
Burn us
So all your eyes are
On us
We’re burning brighter
Burning up, burning up
Don’t you know that
We are immortals
I’ll never hate myself for who I am
If we’re gonna start a war, you’ll be sorry in the end
So let them
Burn us
Together we will
Rise up
We’re going higher
Going up, going up
Don’t you know that
We are immortals
Burn us
So all your eyes are
On us
We’re burning brighter
Burning up, burning up
But you know that
We are immortals
Go on
Burn us
Together we will
Rise up
We’re going higher
Going up, going up
Don’t you know that
We are immortals
Burn us
Burn us

How Much a Heart Can Take Before It Breaks“. Zum Song und Video sagt Frontfrau Linda Battilani folgendes:
“Immortals” is a call for the minorities, the marginalized, the nonconfirmists and the rejected. It’s about defiance, resilience, and self-love. As a lesbian, I’ve experienced what it’s like to be part of a minority. Even being a musician can feel like that – society often doesn’t value art or understand what we do unless it fits into a conventional mold. It’s still not consistently considered ‘a real job’ and a valuable contribution to write and play music for a living.
In the music video, there are two girls who want to kiss, but they’re held back by the masses. It’s a literal representation of the song: no matter how much the world tries to suppress us, our existence is undeniable – an unstoppable force. Even if they ‘burn us’ and try to erase us, we’ll only become louder, more visible, and more real. Their efforts to silence us will only amplify our presence.”
Video directed by Benjamin Bachelard and Linda Battilani, filmed and edited by Benjamin Bachelard at Disclosure Productions.
